Christmas Day/Night

The view from Tuhikaramea Road, looking at the CCNZ library with the nativity pictures in the windows.

The Temple lights, absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect way to end our Christmas day. Enjoying the lights and the peacefulness.

We hope that you all enjoyed your Christmas as what we did.

singstar

This is Tim on the singstar, he is baffled how he does so bad. He cannot understand when others do better than him when he says that he is holding the mic right. Hitting the right notes and also holding them. He thinks that it is a conspiracy against him. Especially since the rest of us do reasonably well. He has even accused us of cheating and not singing and we still get a score for it. Oh all in good fun. So do you think this would put him off, being told by a game that he is tone deaf oh no not Tim. We laugh about if the neighbours were to complain about the noise. That the noise patrol would probably not do anything about as they are Tim's fellow work mates. His security firm he works for, works for the city council who control the noise level if people complain. So on Tim sings loud and proud even if the singstar says he is tone deaf.

Christmas

Well Christmas what can I say. The weather was lovely. The company was great( I have to say that as it was our family-our little family). We have gone for the simple Christmas look nothing too flash. But we like it. It suits our needs. Every year Tim shares the Christmas story before we open presents, much to the cries of our children. This year he opted for a different approach. We watched Joy to the World( a DVD the church has made). It has been awhile since we had seen it and it was lovely. And set a really nice tone for the day. As we quietly watched it was a reminder of what Christmas is . Jesus Christ our Saviour. The world( some of it) still takes a day off to reflect on the birth of the Son of God. It something that I am grateful for.

To the present opening:

As you can see Tim is the centre of attention(not that I mind, I really don't like to be in front of any camera). This year we got the family a PS2. With singstar and buzz games. So we could have fun together and laugh together.

Tatiana's graduation from Primary School

Just last month we were attending Taylor's graduation and in early December we went to Tatiana's leaving assembly. I remember her first day at Frankton. She spent some lengthy time under a table watching what the other children were doing, and trying to decide if it was safe to come out. She was so little then and now having finished her final year of primary school . And what a busy one it was. Tatiana was determined to make the most out of it. She signed up to be a road patroller, an enviro agent , student advocate, school dance committee, librarian, office duty, sports leader and staff room help. As well as these things she also played hockey and cricket. She often struggled to balance some of these things as they would clash. But she would work out the importance of each one and try to get someone to fill in for if she was too busy with other responsibilities. Tatiana will be attending intermediate next year, something she is really looking forward to. Knowing that her brother is not too far away is also reassuring.

Graduation

It seems hard to believe that Taylor has graduated from High School. All exams are now finished and the only thing left for him to do is wait for the results. So as any typical teenager(or nearly an adult as he is constantly reminding me) he is entertainig himself with facebook, Wii, and any gaming device his sweet little hot hands can handle.

Graduation was awesome and we were very proud parents of our son. He got his red sash(Honours). We had set a goal to get red sash and it was achieved, sometimes quite painful nagging from his ever adoring mother and father. Elder Nielsen spoke to the graduates about their 'heart's'. After the official part of the ceremony they were off to Gym where the tradition of lollie lei's was in full swing. The kids had fun picking up off the floor the lollie's falling on the ground. So all round a good night. Taylor found it really hard to wind down that night.
